Laptop Won't Power On, No POST, or Shuts Down Randomly — Component-Level Diagnosis First

Our workshop performs BGA rework, VRM repair, power-IC replacement, and no-POST diagnostics at the component level. We work on MacBook Pro logic boards, Dell XPS, ThinkPad X1, and ROG boards. Workshop-only service — 2 to 5 working days. A transparent quotation is issued after diagnosis, before any repair begins.

30-day warranty BGA rework · VRM · power-IC Workshop-documented 2–5 working days

A no-POST, random shutdown, or dead-board condition does not always require a full board replacement. Our Laptop Service Center Hyderabad workshop diagnoses the power path, identifies the failed component, and repairs at the component level where viable. This approach often costs 30–60% less than a board swap. Call +91 97057 77417 to arrange workshop intake.

Component-Level Work Our Workshop Performs

Each repair type below involves individual components on the motherboard — not a board-swap estimate.

BGA rework — chip reflow and reballing

Ball-grid-array chips (GPU, EC, PCH) can develop cold joints or delaminate under thermal cycling. Our BGA rework station reflows at controlled temperature profiles — or reballs and replaces the chip where reflow is insufficient.

VRM and MOSFET repair

The Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) — the circuit responsible for delivering stable power to the CPU and GPU — is a common failure point after liquid ingress or power surges. We replace failed MOSFETs and inductors individually.

Power-IC and charging-IC replacement

A faulty power management IC (PMIC) or charging controller causes symptoms including no charging, incorrect voltage rails, or spontaneous shutdown. We identify the specific IC and replace it — not the entire power section.

No-POST diagnostics

A device that shows no display, no fan spin, or no LED activity on power-on requires systematic power-rail diagnostics. We trace the fault from DC jack through MOSFET switches, VRM rails, and memory initialisation using an oscilloscope and thermal camera.

GPU reflow

Discrete GPU chips can develop intermittent display faults, system freezes, or GPU errors under load due to thermal fatigue. Reflow restores solder joint integrity. We assess whether reflow or full reballing is the appropriate intervention for your model.

Capacitor replacement

Electrolytic capacitors on the power delivery circuit can fail (bulging or leaking) after extended use or overheating events. Individual capacitor replacement restores stable power delivery without a board swap.

Boards Our Workshop Handles Regularly

Motherboard architecture varies significantly across manufacturers. These are among the models we see most often for component-level work.

Apple
MacBook Pro 14″ / 16″ M1 · M2 · M3 Logic Board
Apple
MacBook Air M1 · M2 · M3 Logic Board
Dell
XPS 15 9520 · XPS 17 9720 Motherboard
Lenovo
ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10 · X1 Extreme
HP
EliteBook 840 G10 · Spectre x360 14
Asus
ROG Zephyrus G14 · ROG Strix G16
Note on Apple Silicon boards: MacBook Pro and Air M-series logic boards use Apple's T2 / M-series secure-enclave architecture. Component-level repair for power path and liquid damage is viable. Touch ID pairing and certain security features may require Apple Configurator steps after repair — we discuss this with you before proceeding. We are an independent workshop, not an Apple-authorized service provider.

Workshop Process — From Intake to Return

  • 1
Initial consultation Call or WhatsApp to describe the symptom — no POST, random shutdown, no charging, display fault under load. An engineer assesses whether the symptom fits a component-level repair profile and advises on workshop intake.
  • 2
Device collection or drop-off An engineer collects the device from your Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, HiTec City, or Gachibowli address — or you may bring it directly to our Secunderabad workshop at Tirupati Complex, MG Road.
  • 3
Systematic power-rail diagnostic We use oscilloscopes, thermal cameras, and multimeter probing to trace the fault from the DC jack through the main power rails. Every measurement is documented.
  • 4
Written quotation — repair or no-fix declaration After diagnosis, we issue a written quotation listing the identified fault, the proposed repair, and the cost. If the fault is not repairable at component level, we declare that — no charge for the diagnostic if repair is not viable.
  • 5
Component-level repair Work proceeds only after your approval. BGA rework, component replacement, or reflow is performed using calibrated equipment. Every repair step is documented with photographs.
  • 6
Functional verification and return The board is tested under load — POST, power rail stability, thermal cycling — before the device is returned. 30-day workmanship warranty applies from the return date.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is component-level motherboard repair?

Component-level repair means we work on individual electronic components soldered to the motherboard — capacitors, MOSFETs, power management ICs, VRM circuits — rather than replacing the entire board. A BGA rework station reflows or replaces ball-grid-array chips under controlled temperature profiles. This approach can recover a board that a board-swap quotation from an OEM service center would price at several multiples of the repair cost.

My laptop shows no power and no POST — can you diagnose it?

Yes. A no-POST condition (the laptop powers on but shows no display, or does not power on at all) is one of the most common workshop referrals we receive. Our diagnostic sequence checks the power path — DC jack, MOSFET, charging IC, VRM rails — before moving to BIOS/EC and RAM slot faults. We issue a written diagnosis with the repair options before any work is authorized.

Can you repair a MacBook Pro M-series logic board?

MacBook Pro logic boards with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3) are repairable at the component level for power path failures, water damage, and certain connector faults. Apple's T2 and M-series chips use a secure-enclave architecture that means Touch ID and some security features may behave differently after certain repairs — we discuss this transparently before proceeding. We are an independent specialist workshop.

How long does a motherboard repair take?

Typical turnaround is 2 to 5 working days. Simple power-path faults (a single failed MOSFET or blown fuse) can often be resolved in 1 to 2 days. Complex faults involving BGA rework or multi-stage power-rail diagnostics take longer. We provide a realistic estimate at the diagnostic stage and keep you updated by WhatsApp or phone call.

Is motherboard repair done at my location or at the workshop?

All motherboard and chip-level work is workshop-only. BGA rework stations, hot-air reflow equipment, oscilloscopes, and thermal cameras cannot be transported to client premises. Our engineer collects the device from your Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, HiTec City, or Gachibowli address, or you may bring it directly to our Secunderabad workshop.

What warranty do you offer on motherboard repairs?

All component-level work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty. If the same fault recurs within 30 days due to our repair, we reinspect and rectify at no additional charge. Where a secondary fault is discovered during the same inspection period, we document it separately and discuss options with you before proceeding.
