The direct answer

Apple does not provide free home service in Hyderabad. Free MacBook repair under Apple's standard warranty requires bringing the device to an Apple Store (Hyderabad has one, at Nexus Mall, Whitefield) or an Apple-designated service provider. AppleCare+ adds accidental damage coverage with a service fee — it is not fully free. For devices outside warranty, independent specialist service is the practical option and typically offers better component-level repair capability than Apple's standard module-swap approach.

Apple's standard one-year warranty — what it covers

Every MacBook sold new through Apple or a registered reseller carries Apple's one-year limited warranty. Coverage is restricted to manufacturing defects — hardware failures that occur under normal use conditions without physical damage or liquid exposure. This covers a MacBook Pro that stops recognising its keyboard through no fault of the user, or a display that develops a dead zone from a manufacturing defect.

The warranty does not cover: accidental damage, liquid damage, cracks, impact damage, battery degradation to less than 80% capacity (that requires the battery to be below 80% within the warranty period — capacity at exactly 81% is not covered), or cosmetic damage. If Apple's diagnostic suggests the fault resulted from user-side damage, the warranty claim will be declined.

AppleCare+ — what it adds

AppleCare+ for Mac extends the standard warranty to three years and adds two incidents per year of accidental damage coverage. Each accidental damage incident is subject to a service fee — the fee for screen damage or accidental damage to the external enclosure is lower than for "other accidental damage" which covers internal components.

AppleCare+ is available for purchase within 60 days of buying a MacBook in India. It can be purchased through Apple's website or at an Apple Store. Remote diagnostics and telephone support are included, but in-person service is still performed at Apple Stores or service providers — not at home.

Apple's service model vs. independent specialist

Apple's service model for out-of-warranty repairs operates on module replacement: if a component fails, the entire module or board is replaced rather than the specific failed component being repaired. This is a reliable approach but is priced accordingly — an out-of-warranty MacBook Pro 14-inch logic board replacement through Apple's service runs at a significant premium.

An independent specialist workshop performs component-level diagnosis and targeted repair. A failed power management IC on a MacBook Pro 14-inch board — which Apple would address by replacing the entire board — can often be repaired by replacing the specific IC and any affected components around it. The cost difference is material, and the outcome is equally reliable when performed by a skilled engineer with appropriate equipment.

Apple's repair coverage in Hyderabad specifically

Hyderabad has one Apple retail store (Nexus Whitefield) and several Apple-designated service providers. For in-warranty service, these are the appropriate first contacts. For devices in Banjara Hills (500034), Jubilee Hills (500033), Gachibowli (500032), or HiTec City (500081), the travel to an Apple retail location is typically 20–40 minutes depending on traffic — factoring this into the convenience calculation is reasonable.

For out-of-warranty MacBooks, our workshop in Secunderabad (MG Road, 500003) offers device collection from these premium neighbourhoods with documented before/after photos and a fixed quote before any work begins.

Frequently asked questions

Does Apple's standard warranty cover MacBook repairs in Hyderabad?

Apple's one-year limited warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal use. It does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, or battery capacity above 80%. Service requires bringing the device to an Apple Store or designated service provider — there is no Apple-provided home service in Hyderabad.

Does AppleCare+ cover accidental damage on a MacBook?

AppleCare+ adds two accidental damage incidents per year, each subject to a service fee. The repair is not free — there is a fee for screen damage and a higher fee for other accidental damage. Service is at Apple retail or service provider locations, not at home.

When is an independent workshop the practical option?

Once Apple's warranty has expired, an independent specialist workshop is the practical route — typically lower cost than Apple's out-of-warranty pricing, faster turnaround, and component-level repair capability that Apple's module-swap model does not provide.

Will using an independent workshop void my MacBook warranty?

If the device is still within Apple's warranty period, independent service may affect warranty coverage for the specific component repaired — not for other unrelated components. For devices outside the warranty period, there is no warranty to affect.
